UGA Marine Science Campus

The Skidaway Marine Science Campus is 684 acres of land on the north end of the island surrounded by 600 acres of salt marsh, land donated by the Roebling family who farmed black angus cattle on the property known as Modena Plantation and by Union Camp, whose Braniger division developed The Landings. It includes multiple institutions for research and education, including the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography, UGA Marex and Aquarium that attracts 18,000 school children to the island annually. The aquarium can be reached at 912-598-2496.
