Skidaway Farms

Skidaway Farms, our community garden, opened its gates in February 2011 and in a few short months nearly all 200 plots were leased to Skidaway Island residents. Skidaway Audubon is the founding organization, supporting the garden in multiple ways. Our immediate past president Jerriann Kirkwood served as champion of the garden for the five years from conception to launch, finding the site, exciting a core constituency to support the dream of a community garden, pursuing legal and lease agreements, orchestrating the PR and finding the leadership to take it through actual development.

This new island amenity, double-fenced to provide security from deer and in a former sod farm of The Landings Club where it receives lots of sun, is a place for gardeners, children who have their own planting spaces, and for educational and social gatherings.

The Farm has its own website: www.skidawayfarms.com.

Skidaway Audubon maintains a development role with Skidaway Farms, serving as the non-for-profit umbrella under which the community garden can raise capital funds.
